When it comes to your home spa, the best thing about it is that there’s no one “best thing.” There are about a million! The convenience, the comfort, the value, the privacy…I dare you to find a downside.

But for me, the ultimate best thing about having a home spa is what I consider the most important quality of any big investment: customization. And there’s nothing more perfect to make your own than your home spa. You want to be surrounded by elements that fit into the unique shape and design of your home, not everyone else’s.

ThermaSol’s steamshowers (http://www.thermasol.com) are about as custom as you can get in your home spa. Entering your home spa’s dimensions in their “Build Your Own Steamshower” online tool generates a base product recommendation for a steamshower unit. From there, the rest is up to you. And I’m not just talking about colors, either! (Although with 14 different finishes available on their control systems, from Polished Chrome to Black Nickel, they pretty much run the gamut of metallic and matte options.) From the light & music packages (all of which incorporate their signature No-Touch In-Shower steamhead and aromatherapy oils) to the temperature control units, the steamshower that you dream of is the steamshower you can have.

Already have the steamshower and want to turn up the heat? ThermaSol also offers a line of custom cut saunas, featuring their exclusive Finnish heater and western red cedar fit to order. All you provide is the floor! And like their steamshowers, ThermaSol’s saunas are designed to fit into any specific space. (All I hear is “So long basement game room…”)

Your home spa is all about you – and it should only include elements designed for your space. Whether structural or aesthetic, it’s the custom touches that will make your home spa experience all the most amazing.

FastStart – A Steam Shower Innovation

Friday, November 13th, 2009

This post provided by ThermaSol Steam Showers –ThermaSol.com

Today our world is a fast paced sprint for many. From early morning until late at night we’re getting the kids to school, rushing off to work, whipping up meals, setting and going to appointments, packing up and heading to sports activities, etc, etc, etc. When you finally have a few minutes to relax, the last thing you want are hold-ups. This premise brought about the FastStart technology for your ThermaSol steam shower. Before FastStart, virtually all steam generators took 4 to 8 minutes to produce steam. ThermaSol’s award winning engineers came through for all those hurried souls who’s time is truly precious, and today that’s nearly everyone! Push the start button on any of ThermaSol’s steam shower controls, and in less than 60 seconds you’re engulfed with the soothing warmth of your own personal getaway.

ThermaSol Steam Shower System:

FastStart is standard equipment on all ThermaSol’s 50th Anniversary generators, and holds a worldwide patent. The technology is such that it uses minimal amounts of energy, much like your clock radio, but it allows every unit to steam in less than 1 minute, whether 3.5 kW or 15 kW. There’s no need to wait 4 to 8 minutes for the steamer to ramp-up.

ThermaSol has also addressed environmental concerns of steam showers. If you have a ThermaSol steam shower in your vacation home, or if you’re away for a lengthy period there is a feature that counts down from 700 hours, so if the steam unit is not used within that time frame FastStart will automatically turn off. If the steam unit is used it starts the 700 hour over again before shutting off completely. If you want, you can even disable the FastStart function through the Signature control unit when you go away, so that it shuts off the FastStart function, and then enable it again when you return.

Other Steam Shower Systems:

It’s taken other steam shower systems a few years to bring their versions of FastStart to the market, but it is not a standard feature on these generators. There is a charge of $200 to $300 for the option of having another version of FastStart added to another steam shower system.

Summary:

FastStart, a ThermaSol Engineering innovation.

1. FastStart provides steam in less than a minute, regardless of the kW of the generator.

2. It is energy efficient but can also be turned off as needed.

3. It has a countdown clock that shuts off the FastStart system after 700 hours of non-use.

SmartSteam – Most desired feature in steam bath generators

This post provided by ThermaSol Steam Showers –ThermaSol.com

Patented Smart Steam is the ultimate in temperature control; only available from ThermaSol.

How it works:

Smart Steam produces the precise volume of steam required to maintain your desired room temperature while conserving energy and providing a quiet relaxed experience. This is accomplished by metering the output of power; the unit only uses enough power to support your requested temperature; no more, no less. For example: if you have a 10 kW generator and you set the temperature at 100 degrees it will use all 10 kW to get to your set temperature but to maintain your temperature it will scale back the power to only what is needed; perhaps 3kw thereby saving energy. A truly green feature. Smart Steam, the “cruise control” of steam bathing is standard on ThermaSol’s Pro Series generators.

Other Steam Showers:

Competitive generators turn on and off to maintain the set temperature, and use plenty of energy in doing so. Additionally, this old method creates both an overshoot in room temperature (a room that is too hot & uncomfortable) and an undershoot (a room too cold & uncomfortable). The old method works but it is akin to driving your car with either full gas or full brakes. By turning the unit on and off to maintain temperature you also add a noise factor not found in Pro Series generators.

Summary:

Smart Steam is patented worldwide; only available from ThermaSol.

1. Unmatched in providing uniform temperature; the most enjoyable steam bath available. (never too hot or cold)

2. Quiet as a church mouse. (unlike competitive units it is not continually turning on & off)

3. The most efficient use of energy of any generator. (Patented, hence found nowhere else)

4. Exceedingly reliable since you are not taxing the generator by constantly ramping up and ramping down.

5. ThermaSol Pro Series; your Passport to relaxation!

ThermaSol, the choice of professionals worldwide since 1958.

Whisper Quiet Versus Potential Water Hammer?

Friday, November 6th, 2009

This post provided by ThermaSol Steam Showers – www.ThermaSol.com

Other Steam Shower Systems:

Other steam shower systems use a probe, circuit board and a solenoid valve to replace the water in their tank. The system is complicated however it is functional but one of the most alarming issues is the potential water hammer that most certainly would take away from the relaxation that a steam bath provides. If you’ve ever had a water hammer issue in your home you know it is irritating but can you imagine it happening each time the solenoid opens to refill the water while trying to relax in your steam bath?

ThermaSol Steam Shower System:
Since ThermaSol units do not use a solenoid valve to replace the water boiled away there is no potential for water hammer, none. This allows the steam bath experience to be what it was designed to be; a relaxing getaway that allows you to rejuvenate from the daily pressures we face in a world that appears to move faster every day.

Summary: ThermaSol generators stand alone for their quiet efficiency.
1. No solenoid valves to replace the water thereby eliminating any potential for water hammer.
2. There is nothing in a ThermaSol generator to take away from the relaxing, rejuvenating experience; whisper quiet.

Digital vs. Analog Steam Shower Technology

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

This post provided by ThermaSol Steam Showers – www.ThermaSol.com

The differences between digital technology, and analog systems is comparable to going from a dial-up connection to DSL or from a black & white television to HDTV. ThermaSol steam showers are all made with 100% digital technology. They spent 33 months making all of their steam shower systems digital, back in October of 2007.  Every aspect of these steam programs was changed, and now all steam showers are updated with the latest in technology.

Analog Steam Shower Systems:

Old analog technology is what each of the present steam bath manufacturer’s use, and have since they founded their companies. They do have digital controls available; however, but all the commands are done via unidirectional analog command. An electronic pulse is sent through telephone style cables to the generator to command functions. It is an inferior system since the generator can only respond to a single pulse. There is no communication network to verify what the specific pulse is and the opportunities for error are endless so there are often cases where a steam generator will run for weeks, causing the destruction of a home’s drywall and more.

Digital Steam Shower Systems:

The complete 100% digital ThermaSol line was introduced in October of 2007. Today it provides the only networked system that contains 100% digital communication technology. The system protocol is such that everything connected not only receives information, it also transmits the information to ensure there can be no reading error as to what the command is. The network technology allows plug & play expansion so that you can plug in any component to the system and it is immediately recognized and joins the “family” discussion ensuring here-to-fore unparelled reliability. There is never a concern that a voltage spike, frayed cable or other outside influence will send a generator into a function that could be destructive.

Summary of Digital Technology :

  1. Plug & play expandability. (not a hodge podge of unrelated components hoping to work together)
  2. Most importantly, reliability beyond compare. (used by virtually every major industry; also known as CAN bus technology)
  3. Safety beyond compare. (peace of mind, no chance of a “run-a-way generator”)
  4. A solid foundation providing a platform for the latest innovations.
  5. Used in a myriad of applications including factory automation, building automation, aircraft and aerospace as well as in cars, trucks and buses.

The Luxury Steam Shower

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

ThermasolControlSince the inception of the basic shower, major advancements have been made in showers and now we are at the point where your household shower can also be a steam shower. Modern steam shower generators are so technologically advanced that they don’t even need to be installed in the bathroom, they can be placed in the basement or a closet, and then the steam can be run to the bathroom.

This luxury is now affordable for nearly all homeowners, with ThermaSol now producing affordable steam shower generators that start at around $850 for SteamSuite models. The extremely high-end, residential steam generators will cost you around $4500, but these generators are able to provide steam for a 1150 cubic foot steam room (a steam room that measures 7 feet tall x 12 feet wide x 13.5 feet long!).

Adding amenities to your steam shower is a great way to make your steam shower even more luxurious. Adding an aromatherapy steam shower head, chromatherapy light system, music system, waterproof telephone or TV makes your steam shower even more luxurious than you could imagine.

The decor for your steam room can be designed for any style or design. You can create a simple, traditional steam shower enclosure that will blend with traditional motifs, or you can create a modern, cutting edge design with tinted or colored glass, black stone or tile with modern lighting and decor.

Some of the steam shower features and add-ons you should keep an eye out for include the FastStart feature that will provide you with steam in seconds; manual or automatic PowerFlush; SmartSteam which is a technology that helps save energy through internal temperature program controls; LED touch screen steam shower and remote controls; steam shower speakers; light and music systems or even built in FM radios, input sources for MP3 players, CDs, DVDs, TV, or satellite radio.

These impressive features, added with the affordable cost of the steam showers make upgrading to a steam shower a no brainer if you are remodeling or outfitting a new bathroom. A steam shower will certainly be a luxury you won’t soon regret!

What is an Eco-Friendly Steam Shower?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

lillypadAny eco-conscious individual understands the importance of energy and water conservation and will be satisfied to know that they no longer have to sacrifice comfort for conservation. A more luxurious alternative to the low-flow steam head, ThermaSol’s steam showers, equipped with the new technological advancement SmartSteam™, maintain the user’s optimal steam room temperature negating the all too common drastic fluctuations in steam temperature.

Most generators use a mechanical power contactor to turn the generator on and off.  As the steam room reaches the desired temperature, the control switches the contactor off. Then, when the room drops in temperature the control activates the contactor again. The SmartSteam system uses a liquid cooled server-duty solid-state relay as the heater control device. This advanced system contains a micro processor control and built-in intelligence. The unit learns the response time required to get the room to a desired temperature and after a few uses, the technology, rather than completely shutting off, can silently pulse the heater allowing the maintenance of the room temperature at a reduced power level. The result? Optimum temperature maintenance and lower energy usage.

Implementing a steam shower in one’s home also conserves a great deal of water. In fact, the water heater is the second most energy consuming unit in the home aside from the heating system. The best way to reduce water heating costs and usage is to increase efficiency and reduce consumption and this can be as simple as incorporating more steam showers into your bathing rituals.

Data supports that steam bath users take considerably shorter showers than those who do not use steam baths. The reasoning is simple: most people spend up to 20 minutes in their steam bath and then complete their bathing routine with a short five to 10 minute shower. Those who do not partake in steam baths take a 20-minute regular shower on average. Here is where the green part comes in: steam baths conserve a great deal more water than regular showers because they only require two gallons of water to power a 20-minute steam bath. Conversely, it takes over 30 gallons of water to power a regular shower for a 20-minute session.

Promoting Good Health: Home steam baths are great for promoting good health. Allergy sufferers often turn to daily steam therapy as steam inhalation supports the respiratory system and may help sufferers to alleviate their sinus afflictions.

Muscle Relaxation: Steam baths generate heat, which in turn helps aching muscles to relax; widening the blood vessels, allowing more oxygen to flow through them and in turn releasing tension. Many users feel that the heat generated by steam causes the whole body to slip into a state of inner sanctum rendering steam baths perfect for those who suffer from arthritis or consistent muscle pain.

Dream: Steam bathing is known to help promote a better night’s sleep resulting in a more revitalized you.

Adding a Steam Shower to Your Home Spa

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

One of the best things to incorporate into your home spa is a steam shower. A steam shower will allow you to steam away your stress and anxiety.  Even though the Home Spa has become increasingly luxurious and exclusive, they don’t always have to be. Even back in Roman times, people relied on steam baths as a way to relax, unwind and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Now, nearly everyone can have their own steam shower added to their home spa as they are becoming much more affordable. One such steam shower is the SteamSuite Series by Thermasol. (Visit the SteamSuite website at www.SteamSuite.com or ThermaSol at www.ThermaSol.com).

Steam showers have always been the must have amenity of the luxury bathroom and price points have kept many homeowners from incorporating a steam element into their own shower, despite their track record of promoting wellness, relaxation, rejuvenation and removing toxins from the body.  Now you can purchase a ThermaSol SteamSuite Basic Package for as little as $894. These new and affordable steam shower systems will surely appeal to homeowners who are looking to improve their master bath or home spa.

To install a steam shower system all you have to do is put your generator somewhere, whether it be under the vanity, in a closet, or even in the basement; then run your lines to the shower where you will install the steam shower controls and steam head. Here is a basic diagram that shows the basics of the installation. (More installation information here: Installing a Steam Shower).

A steam shower is very easy to use and only requires you push a simple button to activate the steam. Once you push the steam shower button you will have steam in seconds, and there are even additional features and products you can get for your steam shower such as a music and light chromatherapy system or aromatherapy scents designed specifically for your steam shower head.  It’s no wonder why steam showers are becoming so popular in the home bathroom.
