PowerFlush Feature On Your Steam Shower

November 24th, 2009

This post provided by ThermaSol Steam Showers –ThermaSol.com

Find a ThermaSol Dealer near you!

Inner-tank maintenance; are you aware that there is only one system that actually works?  PowerFlush is standard on all ThermaSol generators, it is the only bona fide inner-tank cleaning system.

Other Steam Showers:
These steam shower manufacturers have terms such as “Flushing System” sound good but the reality unfortunately does not live up to the verbage. Each of the competitors use inaffective gravity drains whether manual or auto. The water within the tank is released and drained via gravity, nothing more.

Imagine a pot with a 1/2 inch drain hole at the bottom. Pour some Corn Flakes to cover the bottom of the pot then add water or milk filling half the pot. Let it sit over night. The next day remove the drain plug. What happens? The water or milk will slowly find its way through the Corn Flakes and drip out virtually leaving all the corn flakes in the pot. This analogy demonstrates the system used to try and clean the inner-tank in competitive generators. Unfortunately gravity alone doesn’t suffice.

ThermaSol Steam Shower Generator Method:
PowerFlush, was specifically designed to purge calcification build-up from the inner-tank. This unique system uses a combination of household water-line pressure (40 to 80 lbs) and specially designed inner-tank “speed slots” to increase the water pressure. This water pressure effectively sweeps the bottom of the tank removing build-up.

Picture the same pot but rather than just having a drain plug it was used as a water inlet. Now, instead of draining the tank via gravity you PowerFlush the Corn Flakes from the bottom of the tank, and out the top. There would be a compelling difference in the amount of Corn Flakes removed when using pressure rather than gravity.

Summary:
1. To remove sediment from the tank it requires pressure. (gravity alone does not work)
2. PowerFlush increases the lifespan of your generator. (your personal maintenance man)
3. By using the drain as a water inlet you’re no longer required to plumb it to a drain. (installation savings, only from ThermaSol)
4. There is only one effective inner-tank cleaning system, PowerFlush.

ThermaSol, the choice of professionals worldwide since 1958.

Luxurious Spa Gifts

November 23rd, 2009

There are a number of amazing spa gifts you can get for your friends and family this year, but if you’re looking to go the extra mile by shelling out the big bucks you might consider one of these luxurious spa gifts:

1. Crystal Massage Therapy: For centuries people have worn crystal and jade because of the belief that they contained healing properties. These treatments are widespread across Asia and are spreading into Europe and western society. Although there is no medical proof that crystals, diamonds or jade hold any healing benefits, if the person that you are giving this gift to believes that they do have healing benefits, then it’s as good as if they have been proven by the medical society. You can purchase these services at a number of high end spas, including the Four Seasons Hotel Sydney, Twelve Apostles Hotel and Sanctuary Spa in Cape Town and Twelve Apostles Hotel and Sanctuary Spa in Cape Town. Read more about Crystal Massage Therapy here.

2. Gold Facial: The 24 Karat Gold Facial has become more and more popular in the past decade, because of it’s ability to reduce file lines on the face and to prevent aging. This treatment is only available at a handful of spas and beauty centers in the country, including the Veronica Spa in Malibu California, where they use 24 Karat Gold, Gama PGA and Nano Mist technology to help lighten, brighten and hydrate your skin to leave it firmer and younger feeling. The Willow Stream Spa At Fairmont Newport Beach also offers a gold facial using the same technique as the Veronica Spa. Read more about gold facials here.

3. Luxury Spa Retreat: Who wouldn’t want to get away from it all, to have nothing to worry about but relaxing and enjoying high end treatments and services? There are hundreds, if not thousands of luxury spas in the country, all which offer nothing but the highest level of service with their luxury treatments. You can find a full, complete list of luxury spas in the US through the use of Spa Finder’s search tool.

4. Installation of a Steam Shower – The ultimate spa gift is having your own luxury steam shower. A steam shower will bring with it an added luxury that will not only increase the value of your home, but also increase your enjoyment and add endless home spa options to your home relaxation. Steam showers can be affordable, but make sure to have the pros install it if you don’t trust yourself with the installation because no gift should turn into a project gone wrong.

Spa Trends to Look for in 2010

November 20th, 2009

The International SPA Association has just released their spa trends for 2010. As many people looking to 2010 (so that they can forget 2009), this report has been highly anticipated and will most likely change the way spas do business.

  • Social Media –Perhaps you’ve heard of a little website called Twitter? It’s helped to bust open the doors on a marketing revolution, and spas are leading the way. Now, it’s easier than ever for spas to offer up-to-the-minute deals by tweeting or posting a Facebook message. Cancellations are no longer a problem when you can re-book an appointment instantly.
  • Customer Service –Consumers are more aware of every penny spent, and with that comes higher expectations on the level of service they receive. Spas are responding by providing exceptional service and making each visit a customized experience for the guest. In fact, 87 percent of ISPA member spas are utilizing customer feedback mechanisms to ensure they’re exceeding consumers’ needs. And 48 percent of ISPA member spas have implemented customer loyalty programs, allowing them to offer discounts or rewards while incentivizing frequent visits to the spa.
    • Talk Spas-Customer Service for spas will also spread to social media. Many companies are already using social media (twitter) as an added option for customer service. The majority of users also prefer to use a social networking application for their customer service as well.
  • Spa Sampling Menu –Just like ordering tapas at a Spanish restaurant, now you can order up a sampling of spa treatments to try out. These mini services at lower price points are popular ways to get a taste of treatments offered at many spas. With 46 percent of ISPA member spas seeing an increase in shorter (30 minutes or less) treatment bookings, and 86 percent offering shorter treatments, it’s the perfect recipe for consumers seeking small treats to help lift their spirits.
    • Talk Spas- Smaller, shorter spa treatments have been taking off for years, and packaging these treatments together is a growing trend so you get more treatment in less time.
  • Preventive Care –Wouldn’t you rather go to a spa now to learn how to manage stress then end up in a doctor’s office a few years down the road? According to the World Health Organization, by 2020 the top five diseases will all have the underlying contributing factor of stress. Spa treatments like massage, acupuncture, and meditation have been proven to aid in stress reduction and recovery time for pre and post-op patients.
    • Talk Spas- This is another item we have written about as far as back pain is concerned. Keep an eye out for more spa related preventative health posts!
  • Spa Partnerships –Spas are becoming more accessible through partnerships with established franchises, hotels, and local businesses. Recent pairings like Murad Inc. and Massage Envy will allow consumers to enjoy the benefits of a total spa experience for an affordable price. Forty-six percent of ISPA day spa members partner with local businesses to incorporate spa into their workplace. Popular partnerships include: developing wellness programs at local hospitals, accommodating guests at local hotels without spa facilities, and service discount trades between spas and local business employees.
  • Cell Phone Applications –There’s definitely an app for that! Spa-ing is easier than ever with the convenience of doing it from your cell phone. The Four Seasons’ app allows you to browse spa services and check room availability for your next stay. The Hot Springs and Spa Finder – California app will guide you to road-side soaks, spiritual retreats, and commercial spas. Plan a spa vacation from anywhere with Tripology’s app. The Find a Spa app detects your location and displays search results for spas in your proximity.
  • Giving Back –Spas are offering promotions and free services to people who serve the community such as teachers, hospice workers, and military personnel. Some spas are teaming up with local hospitals and providing wellness education to help educate consumers on the spa lifestyle. Community outreach is a great way to generate business and show how easy it is to incorporate spa into your life.
  • The Millennials Take Over –This group now outnumbers the baby boomers, and they are flocking to the spa. They grew up in a culture where taking care of themselves, learning proper grooming techniques and leading a healthy lifestyle were not options, but the norm. Born during the exercise craze of the 1980s, they were the first generation to watch as their parents began turning to spas through the 1990s, when spas experienced significant growth. Spas are reaching Millennials through social media outlets and they are reaping the benefits.
    • Talk Spas- Don’t be shortsighted! We’ve also written about tweens and teens flocking to spas, so get ready for these new markets too and don’t overlook them.
  • Simplified Spa Menus – Everyone is cutting back and spa menus are no exception. You’ll notice fewer treatment options because spas are focusing on the core of their business—results-oriented treatments. No-frills treatments that offer a return on investment are what the consumer is demanding. The No. 1 spa treatment that people seek out worldwide is massage because of its healing and stress-reducing benefits. And the No. 1 reason people go to the spa is to relieve/reduce stress and relax.
    • Talk Spas- It’s better to do a few things great, then to do a bunch of things badly. Focus on your top treatments and cut the rest.
  • Beauty Rest – Catching some zzz’s has never been harder in our sleep-deprived society. The spa makes rest a priority by offering treatments targeted to get you some shut eye. You can actually book time to sleep at the spa or stay after a treatment to nap when you’re feeling relaxed.
    • Talk Spas- Some spas do well with a low price point, hurried approach. If you are not in that market then adding a sleeping treatment or a less hurried approach the way that Lydia Dicello has with her business.

If You Can Dream It

November 18th, 2009

This post provided by ThermaSol Steam Showers –ThermaSol.com

When it comes to your home spa, the best thing about it is that there’s no one “best thing.” There are about a million! The convenience, the comfort, the value, the privacy…I dare you to find a downside.

But for me, the ultimate best thing about having a home spa is what I consider the most important quality of any big investment: customization. And there’s nothing more perfect to make your own than your home spa. You want to be surrounded by elements that fit into the unique shape and design of your home, not everyone else’s.

ThermaSol’s steamshowers (http://www.thermasol.com) are about as custom as you can get in your home spa. Entering your home spa’s dimensions in their “Build Your Own Steamshower” online tool generates a base product recommendation for a steamshower unit. From there, the rest is up to you. And I’m not just talking about colors, either! (Although with 14 different finishes available on their control systems, from Polished Chrome to Black Nickel, they pretty much run the gamut of metallic and matte options.) From the light & music packages (all of which incorporate their signature No-Touch In-Shower steamhead and aromatherapy oils) to the temperature control units, the steamshower that you dream of is the steamshower you can have.

Steam Shower

Steam Shower

Already have the steamshower and want to turn up the heat? ThermaSol also offers a line of custom cut saunas, featuring their exclusive Finnish heater and western red cedar fit to order. All you provide is the floor! And like their steamshowers, ThermaSol’s saunas are designed to fit into any specific space. (All I hear is “So long basement game room…”)

Your home spa is all about you – and it should only include elements designed for your space. Whether structural or aesthetic, it’s the custom touches that will make your home spa experience all the most amazing.

Materials Needed:

  • 1/2″ drop elbow
  • Solder
  • Flux
  • 1/2″ Copper or Brass Pipe Nipple (in appropriate length)
  • 1/2” Copper Tubing

Tools Needed:

  • 1” deep socket and ratchet

1. Drill a 2-1/2” diameter hole in the shower wall or wall above the bathtub rim for the steam outlet line. (see Figure 6).

2. Connect a 1/2″ NPT brass pipe or tubing to the steam outlet on the generator running the pipe to the 2-1/2” diameter hole in wall to connect with the Steamhead housing. Use Figure 4 as a guide. It is very important that the pipe is firmly secured to the wall, so that when the Steamhead is installed it doesn’t push the housing back into the wall. The steam line can run up, down, or horizontal; but cannot run down and then up. If it does, a steam trap may be produced at the low point blocking the flow of steam. Install a 1/2” drop elbow on the end of the 1/2” pipe or tubing for the Steamhead housing. For all the connections, use Teflon tape/solder and do not over tighten fittings. DO NOT USE PVC CEMENT.

Figure 4

3. When finalizing installation, install the Steamhead into the housing, making sure that the aromatherapy fill channels are facing upwards; see Figure 5. To ensure that no moisture gets behind the Steamhead and into the wall, place a generous bead of waterproof silicone around the Steamhead, using the machined groove (located on the back of the Steamhead) as a guide. Be sure there isn’t any debris within the housing, and that the two O-rings are in place on the Steamhead. Slide the Steamhead into the housing until the Steamhead is tight against the finished wall. You may need to wipe away any excess silicone. Use Figure 5 as a reference to these steps.

FastStart – A Steam Shower Innovation

November 13th, 2009

This post provided by ThermaSol Steam Showers –ThermaSol.com

Today our world is a fast paced sprint for many. From early morning until late at night we’re getting the kids to school, rushing off to work, whipping up meals, setting and going to appointments, packing up and heading to sports activities, etc, etc, etc. When you finally have a few minutes to relax, the last thing you want are hold-ups. This premise brought about the FastStart technology for your ThermaSol steam shower. Before FastStart, virtually all steam generators took 4 to 8 minutes to produce steam. ThermaSol’s award winning engineers came through for all those hurried souls who’s time is truly precious, and today that’s nearly everyone! Push the start button on any of ThermaSol’s steam shower controls, and in less than 60 seconds you’re engulfed with the soothing warmth of your own personal getaway.

ThermaSol Steam Shower System:

FastStart is standard equipment on all ThermaSol’s 50th Anniversary generators, and holds a worldwide patent. The technology is such that it uses minimal amounts of energy, much like your clock radio, but it allows every unit to steam in less than 1 minute, whether 3.5 kW or 15 kW. There’s no need to wait 4 to 8 minutes for the steamer to ramp-up.

ThermaSol has also addressed environmental concerns of steam showers. If you have a ThermaSol steam shower in your vacation home, or if you’re away for a lengthy period there is a feature that counts down from 700 hours, so if the steam unit is not used within that time frame FastStart will automatically turn off. If the steam unit is used it starts the 700 hour over again before shutting off completely. If you want, you can even disable the FastStart function through the Signature control unit when you go away, so that it shuts off the FastStart function, and then enable it again when you return.

Other Steam Shower Systems:

It’s taken other steam shower systems a few years to bring their versions of FastStart to the market, but it is not a standard feature on these generators. There is a charge of $200 to $300 for the option of having another version of FastStart added to another steam shower system.

Summary:

FastStart, a ThermaSol Engineering innovation.

1. FastStart provides steam in less than a minute, regardless of the kW of the generator.

2. It is energy efficient but can also be turned off as needed.

3. It has a countdown clock that shuts off the FastStart system after 700 hours of non-use.
